Mayoori and Aditya

Mayoori Kango who made her debut in Mahesh Bhatt's Papa Kahte Hain opposite Jugal Hansraj, tied the knot with New York based Aditya Dhillon on December 21, 2003.

About the Couple
Aditya graduated in Hotel Management from the Taj Institute of Hotel Management, Aurangabad and is presently working with the Food Service Department, UN in New York. Mayoori started her movie career in Mahesh Bhatt's movie Papa Kehte Hain in 1997. She played Karisma Kapoor's mom in Karishma - The Miracles Of Destiny, and also acted as Poonam Dhillon's niece in Kittie Party. She was also seen in Hogi Pyar Ki Jeet opposite Arshad Warsi and Ajay Devgan.

How They Met
Mayoori met Aditya at the Taj Institute of Hotel Management in Aurangabad, her native place. Her childhood friend who was also studying there introduced the duo. After 2 years of their first meeting, they met again at the Taj Hotel in Chennai. Aditya started sending her short, humorous notes, which soon turned to long love letters.

The Engagement
Mayoori and Aditya got engaged on 1st September 2002 at the National Defence College (NDC) in Delhi. It was a small gathering with close friends and family members. Mayoori wore a red Benarasi chiffon saree picked from Benaras and an antique choker set which she bought during a movie shoot in Ooty. Mayoori's engagement ring was a classic ring in white gold with a solitaire in the middle and two baguettes on each side.

The Wedding Ceremonies
The Wedding functions were small, private affairs in Aurangabad. It started on 19th December, 2003 with a Haldi and Mehendi ceremony for close friends and relatives at Mayoori's home. On 20th December there was a Sangeet ceremony with 200 guests at the lawns of Amarpreet Hotel, Aurangabad.

The whole place had a very Indian feel to it with diyas, lights and rangoli and chudiwalis selling chudis. The cuisine was Indian and continental and a cocktail party followed the sangeet. Says Mayoori: "I wore a red and green bandhej lehenga, the material for which I picked from a store called Jaipur at Juhu, Mumbai and it was stitched by my tailor Mukesh."

The Wedding was held on the morning of 21st December at a Gurdwara in Aurangabad. Around 200 close friends and relatives attended the main wedding function which was followed by lunch at Hotel Rama International. Mayoori wore a silk and tissue pink lehenga with antique kundan and gota work done on it. Aditya wore an achkan designed by JJ Valaya.

The evening saw a huge reception party organized at Surya lawns, attended by over 2500 guests. Mayoori wore a blue saree with a red pallu, and jewellery from Sia Art Jewellers, Bandra.

Says Mayoori: "Our wedding was simple and a dream. We didn't overspend on anything, didn't have too hectic a wedding programme and after the celebrations we moved to close-by Goa for an unforgettable and happy honeymoon."
